You want your work to be clear, correct, and polished. I’m happy to help you get there. From the big picture to small details, I can carefully edit, rewrite, and index works your audience will understand and appreciate.
I’m ideally located to serve clients in eastern Ontario, including Cornwall, Alexandria, Vankleek Hill, and Hawkesbury, as well as clients in Ottawa and Montreal. I also work remotely for national and international clients.
Types of editing I offer:
Rewriting is reworking and creating new material based on the scope and information provided. It can include writing new text, additional research, and fact-checking.
Structural Editing is assessing and shaping content and organization so that your work is suitable for your intended audience, medium, market, and purpose.
Stylistic Editing will help clarify meaning, improve coherence and flow, and fine-tune the language. This can include adjusting paragraph and sentence construction, improving word choice, easing transitions, and working with tone, mood, style, and level of formality so that the work is appropriate to the content and audience.
Copy-Editing will improve your work’s grammar, usage, punctuation, and spelling.
Proofreading may not be what you think! It is commonly confused with copy-editing. At the proofreading stage (the final stage of the editing process) I’m closely looking at the material after layout. It will have been reviewed multiple times by this point. I identify remaining errors in spelling, grammar, and usage; instances of missing copy; typographical and formatting errors; and issues that may affect illustrations, captions, and visuals.
